About the position

As a Process Engineer-NDT at StandardAero, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with internal Quality Management and Business units to develop and continuously improve our Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) systems. This position requires a combination of technical expertise and a proven track record of success in working with various organizations, both within and outside the company. You will lead a team of skilled technical individuals, ensuring that our NDT processes meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency. Your responsibilities will include interpreting codes, standards, and contractual documents that govern the NDT methods employed. You will assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility and its staff, selecting appropriate methods and techniques for specific inspections. A thorough understanding of alternate NDT methods and related repair processes is essential. You will also be responsible for preparing and verifying the adequacy of procedures and work instructions, as well as writing, approving, and teaching these procedures to ensure technical adequacy. In this role, you will provide training, examination, and certification for personnel, conduct NDT for component acceptance, and perform internal and external audits as necessary. You will be accountable for developing personnel and training programs, overseeing the continuous training of Level 2 inspectors, and ensuring that all processes, equipment, and inspection areas are maintained in optimal condition. Ethical behavior and accountability for all actions are paramount in this position, as you will be responsible for ensuring that all tooling is correct for the inspections required.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret codes, standards, and contractual documents that control the NDT method(s).
  • Assume technical responsibility for the NDT facility and staff.
  • Select the method and technique for specific inspections with a thorough understanding of alternate NDT methods and related repair processes.
  • Prepare and verify the adequacy of procedures and work instructions.
  • Write, approve, and teach NDT procedures and work instructions for technical adequacy.
  • Provide training, examination, and certification of personnel.
  • Conduct NDT for the acceptance of components as needed.
  • Perform internal and external audits as needed.
  • Develop personnel and training programs.
  • Oversee continuous training and oversight of Level 2 inspectors.
  • Ensure all tooling is correct for the inspections required.
  • Maintain ethical behavior and accountability for all actions.

Requirements

  • ASNT Level 3 Certification in a minimum of one of the following: PT, MT.
  • Ability to obtain ASNT Certification in both Methods within 6 months of start.
  • Certification as Level 3 per NAS 410 in both PT and MT within 6 months of start.
  • 5 - 10 years working as a Level 3 in an Aerospace setting or equivalent experience.
  • Certification or knowledge of other NDT Methods is a plus.
  • Basic computer and technical writing skills.
  • Experience in Etch is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day.
  • Regularly required to sit and stand for prolonged periods.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer system and other related internal control systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification or knowledge of other NDT Methods is a plus.
  • Experience in Etch is a plus.
