About the position

The Process Engineer at ION Clean Energy will support the Research, Development, and Technology (RD&T) team in designing, operating, and reporting results from pilot test programs for carbon capture technologies. This role involves hands-on engineering work to develop and implement new process methods and controls, ensuring quality, safety, and innovation in the commercialization of CO2 capture solutions. The position requires collaboration with various engineering teams and may involve interfacing with project delivery teams for large-scale deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Run the pilot commissioning, operations, troubleshooting, and reporting programs with oversight from management.
  • Design, assemble, commission, and operate prototype devices and process units for pilot settings.
  • Explore process options and implement procedures to optimize quality, automation, and efficiency.
  • Document process methodology, controls, and quality standards.
  • Identify performance standards and provide expertise in solving complex technical problems.
  • Analyze, interpret, and document data through graphs, charts, and reports for diverse audiences.
  • Present findings and new ideas through reports, presentations, and project proposals.
  • Comply with standards for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Refine RD&T project scope and objectives in alignment with goals.
  • Proactively resolve issues and escalate when necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering or related field.
  • Master's degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 2-3 years of relevant process engineering experience.
  • Practical process-related laboratory experience and/or field pilot plant campaigns.
  • Detailed understanding of process modeling and design tools.
  • Solid understanding of CO2 capture methods from flue gas and similar processes.
  • Experience with the design and operation of industrial plants.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and OSHA compliance guidelines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Doctorate degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience with gas-liquid interaction processes.
  • Proactive nature with a focus on technological advancements.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
