As a Process Engineer in Rolling at Vallourec, you will play a crucial role in providing technical support for hot rolling operations. Your primary responsibility will be to resolve multi-discipline problems that arise during the production process. You will be tasked with maintaining and improving standard operating procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in operations. Training operators will also be a key part of your role, ensuring that they are well-equipped to perform their tasks effectively. Additionally, you will focus on reducing variation in key process indicators, which is essential for maintaining product quality and operational consistency. You will lead Continuous Improvement Teams, driving initiatives that benchmark existing processes and evaluate new technologies, materials, and methods. This involves building technical capabilities necessary to execute Vallourec Star strategy by identifying and presenting Capital Expenditure Projects. You will also coordinate project activities with Vallourec's Research and Development centers, external research organizations, and universities to foster innovation and improvement in processes. Your role will require a strong educational background, preferably a BS or its equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Metallurgical Engineering/Material Science, along with 1-3 years of experience in the steel industry. You will need to communicate effectively within the organization, both vertically and horizontally, and possess project management skills for process improvement and product development. Strong decision-making skills based on an analytical approach to problem-solving, including the application of statistical techniques, will be essential. You should be able to work independently and execute objectives in a cross-functional team environment, demonstrating leadership skills that indicate potential for career growth opportunities.
