About the position

The Process Engineer Supervisor position is a critical role within an accomplished manufacturing company located in Grand Island, Nebraska. This full-time position is focused on overseeing the injection molding processes, ensuring that all operations meet customer requirements and comply with industry standards, specifically IATF-16949. The supervisor will be responsible for maintaining control over the processes, which includes managing the production schedule, executing component changes, and facilitating setups and startups. This role also involves direct supervision of the Process Team, which includes ongoing training and discipline of team members to ensure a high level of performance and adherence to safety practices. In this position, the Process Engineer Supervisor will monitor the department and plant floor to ensure compliance with all operational requirements. They will be tasked with training department personnel to operate safely and effectively, directing the execution of the production schedule, and performing necessary mold and material changes as dictated by production needs. Troubleshooting processes, conducting part inspections, and ensuring the quality and conformity of parts are also key responsibilities. The supervisor will maintain controlled documents related to process setups and ensure that the mold shop is organized and clean, while also managing inventories of molding supplies. The role requires a proactive approach to measuring job changeover times and reducing downtime, as well as preparing and monitoring support equipment in the production area. The Process Engineer Supervisor will play a vital role in ensuring that the manufacturing processes run smoothly and efficiently, contributing to the overall success of the production team.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor department and plant floor to ensure compliance with all customer requirements and maintain compliance to IATF-16949 requirements.
  • Properly train and ensure all department personnel operate in a manner that is consistent with safe plant operating practices.
  • Direct and monitor the execution of the production schedule.
  • Perform mold and/or material changes as dictated by the schedule.
  • Perform process troubleshooting, part inspections, and various other functions to ensure part conformity and quality.
  • Ensure machine is setup correctly with the FAI and 1st piece to produce good parts especially at the start of a new week.
  • Maintain Process Setup (Master Process) files as controlled documents.
  • Maintain Mold shop to keep it in order and clean.
  • Maintain inventories of all molding supplies (i.e., mold sprays, water hoses and fittings, and EOAT components).
  • Verify paperwork for jobs and completion of inspections at startup of jobs.
  • Perform in-process inspections and fill out relevant paperwork.
  • Monitor and prepare support equipment (i.e. circulators, grinders, etc.) as needed in the production area.
  • Measure results of job changeover via IQMS quoted times to reduce downtime.

Requirements

  • Must possess a valid forklift license.
  • Ability to operate overhead cranes.
  • Able to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or three years manufacturing experience.
  • 2-3+ years' experience in injection molding.
