About the position

The Process Engineer position at Chemtrade Logistics involves implementing plant capital projects, which includes establishing project scope, developing Appropriation Requests, procuring materials, and managing projects. The role requires close collaboration with management to formulate the capital program and monitor the routine operations of chemical processing units to ensure compliance with established operating procedures. In the event of anomalies, the Process Engineer is responsible for providing guidance to correct the issues. Additionally, the engineer will observe plant areas for improvement opportunities using technical and analytical tools, preparing technical reports with recommendations for modifications. The Process Engineer will also participate in problem-solving and goal-setting activities within departments, offering expertise to resolve technical issues. Maintaining the assigned portion of the Engineering Office and related information retrieval systems, including vendor files and plant drawings, is also a key responsibility. The engineer acts as the plant coordinator for the process safety management program, which includes HAZ-OPS and Management of Change (MOC). This role is crucial in ensuring that plant engineering services and facilities are available to work personnel and outside consultants, engineers, and other personnel. The Process Engineer will be expected to travel approximately 15% of the time, primarily within the United States, but may also include travel to Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in implementing production/processing methods and controls to meet quality & production standards in a safe and cost-efficient manner
  • Participate in implementing standards for measuring and reporting operational reliability as a reflection of operational function effectiveness
  • Prepare process engineering designs, calculations, and reports for various projects around the company
  • Participate in facility shutdowns to assist with inspections and provide a resource when troubleshooting problems
  • Participate in the site P&ID program
  • Participate on various special project teams and audits to ensure compliance with internal and external rules and regulations
  • Act as a Process Engineering resource for the company to assure the utilization of Good Engineering Practices and proper materials of construction
  • Attend personal development training

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • 0-3 years of experience in process engineering and design
  • Proficiency in process design, analysis, troubleshooting, and optimization
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM to guide and initiate/monitor/audit site safety in a chemical process environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to employee health and safety
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
