About the position

Our client is currently seeking a Process Engineer for a 1st shift opening with a manufacturing company located near College Station, TX. This role is critical in ensuring that the manufacturing processes are optimized for efficiency and quality. The Process Engineer will collaborate closely with plant production and quality assurance teams to enhance processes, maximize machine performance, prioritize safety, and ensure consistent product quality. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to continuous improvement in manufacturing operations. The Process Engineer will champion the development and implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) systems, which are essential for monitoring and controlling the manufacturing process. Additionally, the engineer will evaluate and introduce new materials in collaboration with Engineering & Technical Services (E&TS), ensuring that the materials used meet the required standards for quality and performance. A significant part of the role involves developing and continually updating preventative maintenance plans for molds and injection molding machines, working closely with E&TS and machine suppliers to ensure that all equipment operates at peak efficiency. Continuous improvement is a key focus of this position. The Process Engineer will drive initiatives to identify opportunities for product and process optimization, acting as a go-to resource for mold and equipment troubleshooting and repairs. Providing ongoing technical support to plant operations is essential, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, maximizing productivity and quality, and meeting delivery targets. The engineer will also assist in evaluating components and testing new products, including new mold and equipment installations, to ensure that all new implementations are successful and meet operational standards. Furthermore, the Process Engineer will coordinate all Pro-T-Con activities to develop and implement improvements in processes, products, and equipment across the plant. Developing clear and concise standard operating procedures (SOPs) for molding machines and related equipment is also a critical responsibility, ensuring that all team members have access to the necessary guidelines for optimal operation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with plant production and quality assurance teams to optimize processes, maximize machine performance, prioritize safety, and ensure consistent product quality.
• Champion the development and implementation of SPC systems.
• Evaluate and introduce new materials in collaboration with Engineering & Technical Services (E&TS).
• Develop and continually update preventative maintenance plans for molds and injection molding machines, working closely with E&TS and machine suppliers.
• Drive continuous improvement in existing operations, identifying opportunities for product and process optimization.
• Be a go-to resource for mold and equipment troubleshooting and repairs.
• Provide ongoing technical support to plant operations, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, maximizing productivity and quality, and meeting delivery targets.
• Assist in evaluating components and testing new products, including new mold and equipment installations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent) and/or a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of injection molding processes, equipment, materials, and mold tooling.
• Proven project management expertise with a focus on process improvement and innovation principles.
• Ability to react promptly to situations, demonstrating flexibility in working with people and operational assets.
• A keen eye for potential problems and the ability to act proactively on those intuitions.
