About the position

The Process Engineer role at Actalent in Athens, TN, involves leading the introduction of new projects, process design, and equipment specification development. The engineer will coordinate the installation of equipment and ensure that manufacturing processes meet productivity, safety, and ergonomic standards. This position requires strong collaboration with various teams and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Process design for Manual and Auto lines for new products, including process flow, seconds per piece, layout, equipment specification requirements, and manpower configuration.
  • Prepare and update process documentation such as Flow Charts, Process Control Sheets, and PFMEA.
  • Set up equipment with process window definitions, CPK, GR&R, and MSA.
  • Manage manufacturing processes including Vision Systems, Automation & Manual assembly lines, Traceability Systems, Leak Test & Functional Inspection.
  • Support existing products and contribute to process improvements related to manufacturing KPIs such as Operation Ratio, manpower rationalization, Muda Reduction, Customer Quality, and Cycle Time using systematic problem-solving methods.
  • Collaborate with development engineers in the design and introduction of new processes, equipment, and Pokayokes according to process specifications.
  • Prepare and present project justifications for executive approval, considering safety, quality, cost, and delivery.
  • Provide input for departmental KPIs, goals, and budget planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or a related field.
  • 2 or more years of experience in final assembly automated processes.
  • Knowledge of Core Tools, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Project.
  • Experience in equipment specification development and new project implementation.
  • Familiarity with engineering documents such as PFMEA, Process Control Sheets, and layout specifications.
  • Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and team members, along with analytical and proactive problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly motivated and technically competent with good communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and work collaboratively in a team.
