About the position

The Process Engineer at Solenis is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all process engineering functions at the Greensboro, NC plant. This position requires a collaborative approach, as the Process Engineer will work closely with both the Operations team and the Technical team to ensure that all engineering functions align with the company's goals of improving productivity, quality, and environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives. The role demands excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment, making it essential for the Process Engineer to be self-managed and organized. In this role, the Process Engineer will provide technical assistance in process improvements and conduct engineering studies to support plant productivity and quality. The engineer will also take a leadership role in plant teams aimed at enhancing productivity and reducing costs. A significant part of the job involves coordinating activities related to plant permits, including line breaks, management of change, hot work, and confined space operations, ensuring compliance with safety programs. The Process Engineer will participate in insurance, regulatory, and EHS audits, implementing corrective actions as necessary and adhering to the principles of Responsible Care. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and have 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, although closely related degrees with relevant experience may also be considered. The Process Engineer will contribute to quality efforts by ensuring that all plant processes are conducted safely and efficiently, developing and maintaining plant procedures to meet quality parameters. Participation in plant safety meetings and completion of all required training is also expected. The role may involve travel up to 5% and oversight of additional facilities as part of the job function.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical assistance in process improvements and conduct process engineering studies to support plant productivity, quality, and EHS initiatives.
  • Lead and participate in plant teams to improve productivity, quality, and reduce costs.
  • Support all site team activities to achieve common goals through active participation.
  • Coordinate activities associated with all plant permits such as line break, management of change, hot work, confined space, and hazardous energy control.
  • Participate in and help coordinate insurance, regulatory, and EHS audits, implementing and following up on corrective action items.
  • Adhere to all aspects of Responsible Care.
  • Willing and capable to lead and/or participate on site teams, as well as corporate teams.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to interact with corporate staff, hourly plant personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to self-manage.
  • Technical problem-solving capabilities and above-average computer skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance as critical aspects of the role.
