About the position

The Process Engineer role at Flex is focused on enhancing manufacturing processes to improve cost, quality, and delivery. This position is integral to supporting production teams and involves evaluating and implementing process designs, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring robust process control methodologies. The role requires collaboration with engineering stakeholders and active participation in daily production activities to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Recognize the manufacturing process, technologies, techniques, and the product.
  • Define, implement, and evaluate proposed designs and processes for manufacturability.
  • Identify root causes of failures in the manufacturing process, either independently or with other engineering stakeholders.
  • Participate in daily production activities and effectively solve daily issues.
  • Prepare justification, purchase, and implement capital equipment for production.
  • Oversee new process equipment production and the introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Establish robust, repeatable, and reproducible process parameters.
  • Troubleshoot process-related issues and develop, implement, and take ownership of process control methodologies.
  • Participate in activities related to cycle time and process improvements.
  • Evaluate and select various engineered materials.
  • Implement statistical process research on new and existing products.
  • Implement safety and productivity improvements.
  • Improve manufacturing techniques and throughput.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and review processing methods.
  • Interface with production on activities associated with new process implementation and transfer.
  • Assist in the development of training and provide training to production personnel during new technology transfer.
  • Provide equipment maintenance and repair support as required and guide cost improvement/reduction programs.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience and training.
  • 1 year of experience with customer-focused teams in high-speed automation, ideally micron.
  • Familiarity with electronic assembly tools such as color code, component, and schematics.
  • Experience with PCB operations, testing tools like oscilloscopes, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Knowledge of inspection tools for bare boards, systems, components, and harnesses.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge and experience with process validation and machine vision systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC (Allen Bradley).
  • Team player and self-starter willing to learn more about industry processes.
