About the position

Raytheon Vision Systems (RVS) is a world leader in the research, design, and manufacturing of focal plane arrays and flight-based vision systems. We are seeking a Materials and Process Engineer with a strong background in supporting Vacuum Dewar Fabrication. This position is for First Shift in a sustaining and support role, focusing on processes and techniques required to support the manufacture of Infrared Vacuum Dewars, particularly in relation to material testing and failure analysis. The selected candidate will collaborate with a team of Technicians, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Equipment Engineers in an ISO Class 5 Clean Room setting. In this role, you will manage process development and improvement projects, which include novel processing techniques, yield increase, throughput, and safety improvements. You will be responsible for reviewing materials in Work In Progress (WIP), certifying operators, and hands-on processing of testing and failure analysis. Familiarity with processes such as Precision Alignment, Wire Bond, Vacuum Processing, Leak Check, Plating, Photolithography, and Metrology is essential. You will also be expected to handle chemical safety data and follow safety protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Additionally, you will develop and deliver presentations to key stakeholders and work with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design of Experiments (DOE/ANOVA). Responsibilities

  • Support the manufacture of Infrared Vacuum Dewars through material testing and failure analysis.
  • Manage process development and improvement projects, focusing on yield increase and safety improvements.
  • Review materials in Work In Progress (WIP) and certify operators for hands-on processing.
  • Collaborate with Technicians, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, and Equipment Engineers in an ISO Class 5 Clean Room setting.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a university degree and a minimum of 5 years' experience in manufacturing or process engineering, or chemical engineering, or a related engineering experience; or an advanced degree with 3 years of related experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government issued clearance is required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Precision Alignment, Wire Bond, Vacuum Life, Leak Check, Plating, Photolithography, and Metrology.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings or schematics.
  • Good mechanical aptitude and chemical handling ability.
  • Experience with Infrared Detector Technology and Equipment and controls systems.
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn and use engineering and manufacturing software.
