About the position

The Process Engineer role at Ardagh Metal Packaging focuses on providing technical support and implementing upgrades across multiple aluminum beverage can manufacturing facilities in North America. The position involves extensive travel to various plant locations to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety in production processes, particularly concerning front-end equipment like bodymakers and trimmers. The engineer will also be responsible for training staff, managing budgets, and leading initiatives for manufacturing improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for seven aluminum beverage can facilities across North America.
  • Report on project visits to the specific location team, Process Engineering Line Manager, and peers.
  • Assist in managing the Capex budget for equipment wellness programs.
  • Support operations in achieving annual budget targets and cost savings initiatives.
  • Manage equipment upgrades and conversions within project timelines.
  • Train employees on Standard Operating Procedures to maintain corporate standards.
  • Investigate and integrate new technologies into manufacturing processes.
  • Identify and lead manufacturing improvement initiatives and standardization efforts.
  • Conduct studies of existing line equipment and recommend improvements for productivity and quality.
  • Collaborate with plants and equipment vendors to enhance production throughput.
  • Analyze systems data to identify performance improvement areas.
  • Develop new equipment performance expectations and acceptance criteria.
  • Produce proposals for equipment upgrades to management.
  • Establish maintenance requirements and strategies for new equipment.
  • Assist in the start-up of new products and equipment.
  • Conduct Equipment Mechanical Audits and provide reports on specifications.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in management roles in engineering or operations.
  • Extensive knowledge of can manufacturing equipment, particularly bodymakers and trimmers; knowledge of cupping presses is preferred.
  • Experience in managing cross-functional projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex projects and scenarios.
  • Ability to prioritize under time pressure and lead teams to deliver high-quality results.
  • Comfortable multitasking and switching between detailed discussions and strategic reviews.
