About the position

As a Process Engineer at Arlon Graphics, LLC, you will play a crucial role in enhancing production efficiency and quality while adhering to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards. This position requires both independent and collaborative work to meet production requirements effectively. You will lead process changes and drive continuous improvement projects, focusing on optimizing processes through data analysis and time studies. Your responsibilities will include creating and implementing standard work procedures, working closely with area supervisors to improve productivity, and driving departmental Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Total Time Indicators (TTIs). In addition to productivity improvements, you will be tasked with enhancing product quality and reducing process variation. This involves leading corrective action teams to address product and process variations, spearheading first-pass reliability improvement initiatives, and conducting thorough process reviews. You will utilize root cause analysis to resolve product quality issues, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained. Your role will also encompass improving the flow of products, supplies, and information within the manufacturing process. You will lead Kaizen and Lean initiatives aimed at optimizing material flow and reducing waste. Participation in cross-functional improvement teams will be essential, as will enhancing operational data collection processes. A significant aspect of your position will be developing a highly effective, cross-trained team. You will assist in hiring motivated personnel and provide effective training to ensure that team members are equipped with the necessary skills to excel in their roles. Additionally, you will source and procure equipment, tools, and supplies as needed, ensuring compliance with EHS regulations and championing the ISO system across the department. You will also be responsible for technical problem-solving related to production, process improvement, quality, and scrap reduction. Collaborating with maintenance teams, you will work on implementing Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and other preventative maintenance processes to enhance machine and process reliability. Furthermore, you will oversee the scaling up of new products introduced by product development, which includes process development, writing standard work instructions, and training operators on production techniques. Your responsibilities will extend to making capital project requests, conducting experimental designs, and leading focused improvement teams. Although this position does not have direct reports, you will provide direction to production crews during trials and mentor junior engineers and interns to foster their professional development.

  • Champion compliance of the ISO system across the department
  • Provide technical problem solving for day-to-day production issues
  • Improve the reliability of machines and processes with maintenance teams
  • Responsible for scaling up new products introduced by product development
  • Make capital project requests including process investigation and vendor selection
  • Conduct experimental designs and trials on the manufacturing floor
  • Lead focused improvement teams and communicate progress
  • Mentor interns and junior engineers

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering (completed no later than June 30, 2023)
  • Minimum (1) year of experience as a Process Engineer; can be substituted for successful completion of Arlon Internship Program
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and Mini-Tab
  • Capable of understanding and interpreting test results
  • Ability to generate practical solutions to complex problems
  • Strong communication skills (listening, verbal, written, presentation, inter-personal)
  • Valid driver license, auto insurance and travel documents
  • Commitment to organizational goals and values of integrity, excellence, teamwork, and accountability

Nice-to-haves

  • Six Sigma green belt or above certification
  • Experience with formalized problem solving, process improvement tools and methods, and statistical analysis (Lean and Six Sigma)
