About the position

The position involves reviewing, understanding, and following customer inquiries and technical specifications related to the design of oil and gas field process equipment and process packages. The role requires performing process engineering tasks during project execution while working independently with minimal supervision. The engineer will evaluate customer inquiries and specifications to determine the best process or equipment design for the application, ensuring that the designs meet the required specifications or clearly defining any differences in a clarifications or exceptions list to the customer. In addition, the engineer will be responsible for submitting technical proposals that include a clear definition of the scope of supply, equipment performance, warranty, and delivery. These proposals must be presented in a manner that positively enhances the company's position to receive the order. The role also includes developing deliverables for cost estimating, design engineering, and drafting, as well as leading the development and creation of all project process deliverables, including Heat & Material Balance, PFDs, P&IDs, process equipment datasheets, and PSV calculations. It is crucial that all documents match and that any changes are reflected across all applicable documents. The engineer will confirm compliance with the customer's purchase order regarding the proposal's technical and process requirements and perform complex process simulations utilizing defined software. They will create, review, and comment on complex PFDs and P&IDs and conduct P&ID walk-downs on fabricated equipment. The role also involves performing equipment process design and sizing, line sizing calculations for compressible and non-compressible fluids, and pump head calculations. The engineer will provide process information to instrumentation engineers, select control valves, level instruments, and flow measurement instruments, and review vendor technical information for instruments. Additionally, the engineer will generate Control Narrative and Control Philosophy documents, elaborate on cause and effect matrices, and define set points for alarms and trips. Participation in customer HAZOP or leading internal HAZOP or other safety studies is also part of the role. The engineer will prepare technical requisitions for buyout equipment such as heat exchangers, vessels' internals, and pumps, produce Installation, Operating, and Maintenance Instruction manuals, and perform final reviews of Project Job Manuals. Peer reviews of team design work, including proposals, cost estimates, deliverables, and fabrication drawings, will also be required. The engineer will provide process technical support for troubleshooting and may perform on-site start-up and troubleshooting as needed.
