About the position

Avery Dennison is seeking a Process Engineer for our Reflective Solutions business, which focuses on the traffic and safety industry. In this role, you will be tasked with designing innovative processes that enhance operational efficiency and executing complex engineering projects. The ideal candidate will possess a degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and demonstrate a consistent ability to successfully manage and execute complex engineering projects. A passion for collaborative work in a team-based environment is essential for success in this position. As a Process Engineer, you will provide technical support to site operations, optimizing manufacturing processes, including the electroforming process, to reduce production costs, scrap, and setup time. You will also maximize productivity while supporting quality enhancements and increasing throughput, production capabilities, and efficiencies. Additionally, you will be responsible for providing application support to customers by resolving converting issues at their locations and addressing process issues related to equipment and product performance. Your role will involve supporting safety initiatives and programs, collaborating with Marketing and Product Development teams during new product communications, and leading cost-out initiatives to lower product costs while maintaining quality. You will conduct process and equipment evaluations, develop operating parameters, and maintain a network of reputable vendors and suppliers to drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility. Working closely with R&D, you will assist in the development, scale-up, and commercialization of new products and technology platforms. You will also conduct process optimization Design of Experiments (DOE) to increase line speeds, decrease changeover times, and improve product yields. Maintaining a process condition database for constructions produced on assigned production lines will be part of your responsibilities. As a leader in production, you will create a motivating environment for team members to meet and exceed facility goals related to safety, service, quality, productivity, cost, and inventory control. You will ensure the execution of standard operating procedures, quality standards, cycle counts, safety audits, and ISO corrective actions. Collaboration with technical and support resources will be crucial in resolving problems and developing improved manufacturing processes using lean sigma and six sigma tools. Promoting safety as the organization's most important value will be a key focus, as will participation in required safety training and the implementation of corrective action plans.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to site operations including optimizing manufacturing processes and reducing production costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Metallurgical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related Process Engineering work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical capabilities, including statistical analysis skills.
  • Proficiency in applicable computer software and systems, such as Microsoft Office and function-specific software (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Autocad, Solidworks).
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Effective interpersonal skills for dealing with people at various levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Six Sigma certification is preferred.
  • PE certification is a plus.
  • Electroforming experience is a plus.
