About the position

The Process Engineer plays a key role in optimizing and supporting the operation of INEOS Styrolution's Styrenics assets, with a primary focus at the Texas City Styrene facility. This position involves tracking unit performance, setting operating targets and guidelines for unit operators, troubleshooting problems, developing and executing improvement projects, and administering the unit quality program. The Process Engineer will interact daily with operations and maintenance teams to help maintain, support, troubleshoot, and maximize unit performance. Additionally, there will be frequent interactions with logistics and commercial teams regarding production forecasts and quality management. The role also requires interaction with vendors, consultants, and raw material suppliers to identify improvements, resolve operational issues, and provide technical support for projects. The responsibilities include developing and maintaining operating envelopes, which involves identifying appropriate parameters, consequences of deviations, and corrective actions. The Process Engineer will set safe operating envelope limits and investigate any exceedances. Leading and participating in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective recommendations to prevent reoccurrence is also a key responsibility. The role supports and leads Process Hazard Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA), writes and supports the Management of Change process through PHA and PSSR Evaluations, and supports the styrene product lines through small project and technical service emphasis. Managing project activities, including scoping and prioritization, creating preliminary and detailed process designs, conducting economic evaluations, providing start-up support, and completing proper documentation are also part of the job. The Process Engineer will prepare and support unit shutdowns, turnarounds, and start-ups, and assist in monitoring unit performance variables while supporting benchmarking efforts.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum of a B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a process engineer.
  • Basic engineering knowledge and skills.
  • Recent project demonstrating innovation ability.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental quality issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, & written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with chemical processes or an aptitude to become familiar with them.
  • Results-oriented mindset.
  • Technical skills including necessary computer skills and detailed knowledge of process equipment.
