About the position

The Process Engineer plays a pivotal role in optimizing manufacturing processes to improve process efficiency, quality, throughput, cost, and sustainability. Within this role, you will grow your process expertise in an operating unit to identify and implement process improvements and capital projects from concept to startup. As part of our Operations team, your role will involve providing technical support to maintenance and operations groups, including conducting process studies, troubleshooting, process optimization, and maintaining historical data to identify, monitor, and control key operating parameters. You will spearhead projects with budgets up to $500K and direct project contractors and consultants as necessary. Your responsibilities will include implementing capital permits, projects, and engineering studies as assigned to accomplish plant goals, while managing projects in compliance with Ingredion's ethics, safety, and engineering standards. Additionally, you will provide technical knowledge to the plant safety professional on facility safety initiatives when designing and/or redesigning work processes to eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses. The role also requires identifying, developing, and initiating capital projects with an implementation date of 1-2 years in duration. You will conduct process training and ensure documentation is up to date when projects are complete. Keeping current in your discipline is essential, as you will assess innovative technologies and ideas, develop, evaluate, and seek approval for new concepts to improve the efficiency and capability of the process.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering-related discipline or equivalent technical experience.
  • Process improvement experience in a manufacturing operations environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot process & equipment, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement action plans and follow-up to ensure effective results.
  • Ability to successfully implement capital projects/permits and perform engineering functions in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge and expertise of the corn wet milling process, and the systems and fundamentals involved in its operation preferred.
