About the position

The Process Engineer at Samuel, Son & Co. is responsible for analyzing and improving manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency and quality. This role involves leading process improvement projects, utilizing CAD for design and analysis, and collaborating with various teams to resolve process deficiencies. Responsibilities

  • Analyze work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow for design equipment layout and workspace to maximize efficiency and quality.
  • Develop proposals to improve process efficiency by utilizing existing process data.
  • Assist in resolving process deficiencies daily, utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Lead process improvement projects from planning to completion.
  • Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with designs and analysis using CAD.
  • Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Apply statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Engage and partner with Operations and Maintenance Teams for process improvement developments and projects.
  • Confer with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Confer with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production process improvement.
  • Lead Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement in Efficiency, Productivity, Quality, and On-Time Delivery.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.

Requirements

  • An Engineering degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing or Reliability Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • Understanding of process improvements and Lean principles.
  • Experience with CAD software, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience and/or certifications - green belt preferred.
  • At least 5 years as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer within an industrial facility.
  • Good understanding of material flow and operations sequence.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with site leadership and team members.
  • Ability to work in an ever-changing work environment.
