About the position

Kinder Morgan CO2 Company is currently seeking a Process Engineer for the SACROC Gas Processing Facilities and the Snyder Gas Plant. This position is essential for maintaining the safe and efficient operations of the plant facilities. The successful candidate will focus on maintaining and/or improving the operation and reliability of the compression fleet and enhancing NGL recoveries. The SACROC Gas Processing facilities employ a multitude of processes, including over 300,000 hp of compression, gas dehydration facilities, NGL Recovery facilities, and CO2 membranes. The facilities are classified as PSM Facilities, which underscores the importance of safety and compliance in all operations. The role involves a variety of responsibilities, including engineering support, operations support, plant maintenance support, and project support. Engineering support includes modeling or analyzing process systems, optimizing plant processes, specifying new or replacement process equipment, and ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management. Operations support entails troubleshooting process and compression equipment, monitoring plant processes via PLC, DCS, or SCADA systems, and participating in emergency response roles. Maintenance support focuses on developing solutions to equipment problems, enhancing system design to reduce maintenance costs, and planning facility shutdowns. Project support involves designing and modifying process systems, preparing project cost estimates, supervising work crews, and tracking project costs. The position is located in Snyder, TX, with the possibility of considering Midland, TX as a job location depending on the candidate's experience. Frequent meetings in Snyder, TX are expected, and the candidate must be prepared to operate company vehicles during daily activities. The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor tasks in various weather conditions, and physical demands may include lifting and moving up to 50 pounds. The candidate must also be willing to work on holidays when they coincide with scheduled on-call weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Modeling or analyzing process systems
  • Optimization of plant processes and compression systems
  • Specification of new or replacement process equipment
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with Process Safety Management
  • Executing MOCs for proposed changes to the facilities
  • Writing or reviewing operating procedures
  • Troubleshooting of process equipment, compression equipment, and plant operations
  • Surveillance of plant processes on PLC, DCS, or SCADA
  • Aiding with plant operations
  • Identify, report, and correct safety and environmental concerns
  • Participating in emergency response roles and training
  • Developing solutions to equipment problems
  • Enhancing system design to lower yearly maintenance costs
  • Facility shutdown planning
  • Interacting with maintenance personnel
  • Create maintenance work orders
  • Design and modification of new or existing process systems or equipment
  • Preparation of project cost estimates (AFE's)
  • Equipment purchasing
  • On site supervision of work crews
  • Project cost tracking
  • Completing appropriate project documentation and paperwork
  • Operate company vehicles during daily activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
