About the position

The Process Engineer at the MIM Plant in Noblesville is responsible for designing, monitoring, and controlling production processes to ensure the quality of parts. This role focuses on optimizing processes to reduce scrap and improve efficiency, while also facilitating the launch of new products and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Review and improve part efficiency
  • Initiate cost reduction and process improvement
  • Reduce scrap levels due to various factors such as poor instruction, poor process, and poor training
  • Investigate and correct non-conformance issues
  • Investigate and develop continuous improvement opportunities, implementing engineering changes as required
  • Complete size change studies, working with scheduling to schedule trials, measuring parts at each process step, and running data analysis
  • Assist Product and Materials Engineering in developing process controls and capability standards for quote feasibility and NPI launch activities
  • Develop and document control plans, Flow Diagrams, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), and processes for product manufacture
  • Participate in New Product Introduction Projects, reviewing production schedules, calling suppliers, and supporting quality departments
  • Locate and develop relationships with suppliers for external work
  • Review new product prints for accuracy and manufacturability
  • Assist sales and manufacturing with technical service on various accounts
  • Be involved in risk assessment for product offerings and customer specification updates
  • Perform other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Manufacturing Engineering, or Industrial Engineering
  • 3-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal injection molding
  • Knowledge of molding, machining, inspection, GDandT, compliance to blueprint requirements, and process development
  • Metal Injection Molding experience is required
  • Ensure compliance with ITAR regulations in handling, processing, and export of defense-related materials and technologies
  • Demonstrated skill in Lean for Manufacturing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; Minitab and SolidWorks experience is desired.
