About the position

The Process Engineer at Howmet Aerospace is responsible for the development and implementation of manufacturing processes to meet production requirements and cost objectives. This role emphasizes troubleshooting operations, designing fixturing, conducting time studies, and utilizing statistical process control to enhance production efficiency and reduce scrap. The engineer will also engage in new product introduction (NPI) planning and act as a technical liaison with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot operations including fixturing/clamping issues, program and/or parameter issues, and expendable tooling issues until resolved.
  • Design fixturing using the fixture maintenance program or other mistake-proofing methods to increase yields and support scrap reduction initiatives.
  • Conduct time studies to balance and define operator standard work, generating standard work charts and process capacity tables.
  • Utilize SPC charts and other process capability methods to increase first-time yields to within quoted standards.
  • Perform process planning and development for newly awarded products, including tooling procurement and bill of materials.
  • Use data analysis tools (Power BI) to identify gaps in shop floor performance and implement method improvements.
  • Assist in cost estimating for repeat production jobs and new product introductions.
  • Act as a technical liaison with customers, suppliers, and other Howmet plants regarding processes and specifications.
  • Research, analyze, and justify equipment procurement costs.
  • Participate in continuous improvement events and initiatives.
  • Provide technical support to shop floor personnel.
  • Comply with all EHS programs and policies.

Requirements

  • Engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor's Degree.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in machining, aerospace, or industrial gas turbines operations.
  • Knowledge of aerospace specifications.
  • Ability to solve problems and identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software and CAD/CAM programs.
  • Working knowledge of statistical processing analysis tools.
  • Training and experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma tools.
