About The Position

The Process Engineer plays a key role in optimizing and supporting the operation of INEOS Styrolution‘s Styrenics assets with a primary focus at the Bayport Styrene facility. This includes tracking unit performance, setting operating targets and guidelines for the unit operators, troubleshooting problems, managing the asset integrity for the unit, developing and executing improvement projects and administering the unit quality program. Daily interaction with Operations and Maintenance to help maintain, support, troubleshoot, and maximize unit performance. Has frequent interaction with logistics and commercial regarding production forecasts and quality management. As needed interaction with vendors, consultants, and raw material suppliers to identify improvements, resolve operational issues, and provide technical support for projects.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in chemical engineering.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience as a process engineer in a chemical plant.
  • Recent project demonstrating innovation ability.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental quality issues.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, & written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with chemical processes.
  • Solution and results-oriented.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Detailed knowledge of process equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to learning, following and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioural Safety.
  • Intervene to stop unsafe work.
  • Observe and follow all rules and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain the operating envelopes, including identifying appropriate parameters, consequences of deviations, and corrective actions.
  • Lead/participate in incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective recommendations.
  • Support/lead Process Hazard Analysis and Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
  • Write and support the Management of Change process through PHA and PSSR Evaluations.
  • Monitor unit performance variables and process equipment to meet reliability targets.
  • Manage process asset integrity.
  • Optimize variable costs by leveraging technical knowledge and a proactive approach to energy management.
  • Interface with operations and maintenance to maximize unit performance.
  • Support Styrolution product lines through small project and technical service emphasis.
  • Develop and maintain site product master data and production tools & processes.
  • Provide technical input into regulatory and sustaining projects.
  • Participate in verification activities for safety and environmental compliance.
