About the position

Sanmina Corporation is seeking an experienced Process Engineer to join our team at the Carrollton, TX plant. The Process Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, operation, and implementation of industrial processes. This position is essential for improving efficiency, reducing costs, enhancing sustainability, and maximizing profitability across various manufacturing operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, configuring, and optimizing processes from inception through to startup and certification. In this role, the Process Engineer will assess existing processes, take measurements, and interpret data to identify areas for improvement. They will design, run, test, and upgrade systems and processes, ensuring that best practices and innovative solutions are implemented to enhance production rates and quality of output. Risk assessments will be performed regularly to ensure safety and compliance, and the engineer will specify and evaluate new equipment, processes, and materials as needed. The Process Engineer will also generate post-build and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reports to present to customers, review customer engineering change orders and deviations, and apply necessary changes to the processes. Managing cost and time constraints is a critical aspect of this role, as is reviewing customer returned materials and developing corrective actions based on yield reviews. Training production personnel and generating process documentation and operating instructions are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the engineer will be involved in new product introduction and development, collaborating with the quote group to provide accurate quotes for new assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, configure and optimize industrial processes from inception through to start up and certification
  • Assess processes, take measurements and interpret data
  • Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes
  • Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
  • Perform risk assessments
  • Specify new equipment and evaluation of new equipment, processes, and materials
  • Perform process simulations
  • Generate post build/DFM reports and present to customers
  • Review customer engineering change orders and deviations and apply to the process
  • Manage cost and time constraints
  • Review customer returned materials
  • Yields review, development of corrective action and implementation of corrective actions
  • Train production personnel
  • Generate process documentation and operating instructions
  • New product introduction and development
  • Work with the quote group to quote new assemblies

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience supporting manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of IPC-A-610 Solder Requirements - IPC Solder Certification is a plus
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 standard for a quality management system (QMS)
  • Working knowledge of 5S Lean Six Sigma practices
  • Experience in executing process optimization including process engineering
  • Excellent problem solver and ability to generate innovative solutions to broad range of issues
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues to other functions in clear and understandable terms
  • Ability to meet aggressive program deliverables
  • Excellent computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office / Google Suite
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel is a plus, including creating formulas, macros, and charting
  • Experience in Agile and Oracle applications is a plus
  • Ability to follow oral and written guidelines
  • Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Has willingness to learn, takes initiative, and offers improvement ideas
