About the position

Huntsman Corporation is seeking a Process Engineer to support the Advanced Materials Division located in McIntosh, Alabama. This position is a working role that involves performing process engineering duties with opportunities for growth into a leadership role. The Process Engineer will be responsible for continuously improving processes to ensure they are robust and consistently executed according to site and corporate policies and procedures. The role emphasizes a passion for the safe, efficient, and ethical manufacture of high-quality materials valued by customers. In this position, the Process Engineer will work with minimal supervision and will be expected to make high-level decisions. Key responsibilities include conducting strong root-cause analysis and implementing corrective actions, utilizing statistical analysis skills including the implementation of Statistical Process Control (SPC) for critical process parameters, and collaborating closely with the Quality Control Manager to enhance customer relations. The engineer will also leverage outside vendor expertise for equipment performance and influence site priorities and improvements without direct authority. The role requires strong communication skills for professional presentations and technical writing, as well as the ability to drive a culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) excellence within the operations team. Compliance with EHS federal and state laws, as well as corporate standards, is essential. The Process Engineer will provide technical support to production units, track Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and lead root cause analyses to eliminate efficiency loss, scrap, and downtime. Additionally, the engineer will introduce new products to production lines, develop scopes of work, and ensure safe transitions into production. The position also involves proposing and implementing projects to optimize unit operations and improve safety, gathering and reporting environmental and regulatory data, and serving as the technical owner of major site utilities. The Process Engineer will assist with automation engineering initiatives and provide technical support to the Project Engineering group. Participation in site-wide improvement initiatives and leading incident investigations are also key responsibilities. The role includes developing the performance of direct reports by setting meaningful goals and providing feedback and developmental opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously improve processes to ensure robustness and consistency.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably in process and production engineering.
  • Unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.
  • Understanding of applicable rules and procedures associated with RCRA wastes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous plant supervisory experience.
  • Experience with OEE, continuous improvement, and Lean tools.
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience.
