About the position

The Process Engineer role focuses on the development and implementation of process improvements for existing and capital projects. The primary goals include minimizing the impact on current production, utilizing advanced technologies, and executing plans efficiently to enhance process performance.

Responsibilities

  • Design process flow sheets with sufficient detail for Engineering to develop piping and instrumentation diagrams for all capital projects.
  • Review process design and project objectives with Project and Automation groups to communicate operational issues and provide processing insights.
  • Generate operating, startup, and shutdown procedures for new or existing process equipment.
  • Attend project meetings for the commissioning of new installations.
  • Troubleshoot existing installations to quickly resolve production-limiting problems.
  • Evaluate new process equipment and develop products as they are introduced into the plant for both existing and new products.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with the Maintenance group to review systems and data for developing preventive and corrective schedules to improve equipment availability.
  • Solicit equipment quotations as necessary to develop Capital Asset Requests.
  • Encourage safe work practices with a strong focus on good housekeeping.
  • Be aware of environmental impacts and take corrective action when problems are observed by notifying appropriate personnel.
  • Present projects to management and customers for training, idea sales, or issue persuasion.
  • Stay current with the latest production techniques within Omya and the industry as they apply to emerging production lines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience as an engineer or equivalent.
  • Previous mineral processing experience preferred.
  • Project Engineering experience preferred.
  • Hands-on work ethic to troubleshoot and operate equipment.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of computers associated with this position.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to deal with frequent interruptions and prioritize jobs.
  • Concentration for long periods on complex problems and service to various organizational levels.
