Responsibilities:
Analyze work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow for design equipment layout and workspace to maximize efficiency and quality.
Develop proposals to improve process efficiency by utilizing existing process data
Make it a priority to assist in resolving process deficiencies daily, utilizing Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
Lead process improvement projects from planning to completion.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist with designs and analysis using CAD.
Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
Engage and partner with Operations and Maintenance Teams for process improvement developments and projects.
Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production process improvement.
Lead Kaizen events to drive continuous improvement in Efficiency, Productivity, Quality, and On-Time Delivery.
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned or required.
Qualifications:
An Engineering degree is required in Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical, Manufacturing or Reliability Engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Strong project management skills.
Good mechanical aptitude.
Understanding of process improvements and Lean principles.
Experience with CAD software, AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks.
Lean Six Sigma experience and/or certifications - green belt preferred.
At least 5 years as a Manufacturing or Process Engineer within an industrial facility.
Have a good understanding of material flow and operations sequence.
Must work in collaborative manner with site leadership and team members.
Ability to work in an ever-changing work environment.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Although limited must be able to climb stairs and ladders, work at heights up to 50' and work in confined spaces.
You must be able to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, squatting, and while laying on your stomach or back.
There will be some contact with liquid paint, solvents, greases and oils.
Work Environment
Operation requires the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, metatarsals and hardhats. Loose fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted. Potential for varying temperatures with extreme heat.
