About the position

This petro-chemical industry operations staff position exists in order to optimize the utilization of physical assets and other resources to manufacture the highest quality products in the most efficient and effective manner, reduce costs and increase operating profit. The operations staff personnel increases productivity and adds value by integrating plant assets, personnel, technology, energy, EHS requirements, effective maintenance, instrumentation, production, raw material handling and material flow processes, while sustaining a safe and healthful working environment that meets PSM, environmental, health and safety regulatory and Company requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate unit for process deficiencies to identify root causes.
  • Identify improvements to eliminate or minimize deficiencies.
  • Propose projects to implement and follow-up to ensure timely completions.
  • Ensure completion of pre-startup safety reviews prior to commissioning.
  • Coordinate commissioning and startup.
  • Monitor benefits realized by improvements implemented.
  • Facilitate project closures to meet prescribed time schedules.
  • Identify and issue work orders for Unit maintenance repair and improvement items during turnarounds.
  • Prepare and update detailed schedules to ensure all identified activities are completed within the available window.
  • Ensure materials and labor are ready per schedule.
  • Assist in coordination of operations personnel activities during turnarounds.
  • Participate in critiques after turnaround and implement action items as assigned.
  • Review daily logs, Supervisory logs, electronic data trends and supporting records to ensure proper operation of critical Unit process equipment.
  • Collaborate with maintenance unit personnel to identify process equipment abnormal root causes.
  • Assist operations personnel in troubleshooting to correct abnormalities and deficiencies as needed.
  • Conduct weekly field inspections of Unit Division areas to identify areas of safety, environmental, or production deficiencies and report to management as needed.
  • Follow-up on findings to ensure proper corrective action is taken in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Ten (10) plus years in petrochemical facility/refinery dependent upon education; experience in Olefins Plant, production troubleshooting, process improvement preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of 10 years of direct job-related experience required; or Bachelor's degree with 6 years of direct job-related experience; or Associate's degree with 8 years of direct job-related experience.
  • Personal computer skills and applicable software.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good business writing ability.
  • AS400 and organizational skills.
