About the position

The Summer 2025 Process Engineering Intern position at Carpenter Technology Corporation offers an opportunity for students majoring in Mechanical, Electrical, or Robotics Engineering to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment. Interns will support various projects aimed at enhancing safety and efficiency in the production process, while developing critical skills in problem-solving, communication, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of potential safety devices for use in the mill.
  • Design solutions for identified problems, such as a pneumatic hammer to remove swarf.
  • Redesign the stool separator for improved functionality.
  • Collaborate with multiple departments on manufacturing projects.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program majoring in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics Engineering, preferably as a rising junior or senior.
  • SolidWorks experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Minitab, and MS Project is necessary.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.
  • Willing and able to work on-site at the Athens, AL location.
  • Applicants must be US Citizens or Green Card Holders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with hydraulics is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.
  • Willingness to ask questions and work collaboratively.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range of $21.00 - $25.00 per hour based on program of study and degree progression.
  • Commuting assistance of $2,400 for interns commuting over 50 miles one-way.
  • Housing allowance of $4,800 for interns relocating over 50 miles one-way.
