Process Engineering Intern - Summer 2025

About the position

The Engineering Intern position at Corning involves applying engineering principles to improve product, process, and equipment performance. Responsibilities

• Apply engineering principles to accomplish technical assignments and projects.
• Provide solutions for increased process efficiency and material utilization.
• Assist in problem-solving to ensure timely resolution of process issues.
• Provide cost and schedule updates on assigned projects.
• Lead projects to identify root causes of issues and implement permanent solutions.
• Meet all Environmental, Safety and Health requirements.
• Develop knowledge of materials, processes, and equipment in focused manufacturing areas.
• Modify existing processes through experimental design to improve performance.

Requirements

• Pursuing a 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related major.
• Availability for 10 weeks during Summer 2025 (May-August 2025).
• Graduation date of December 2025 or later.
• Interest in working for Corning, Inc after graduation if offered a full-time position.
• Willingness to work in Durham, North Carolina.

Nice-to-haves

• At least one semester of core engineering coursework completed.
• GPA greater than 3.0.
