About the position

The Process Engineering Technician at Gentex Corporation is responsible for monitoring and adjusting equipment controls to ensure optimal performance in product manufacturing. This role involves troubleshooting equipment issues, developing software for new equipment, and supporting engineering staff in process development. The technician will also assist in the implementation of new products into mass production while maintaining safety and compliance with company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Eliminate equipment downtime by tracking problems to their root cause and correcting them.
  • Specify and/or develop software to complement new equipment.
  • Maintain records of all program changes, assembly drawings, and product specifications.
  • Make software modifications as needed to dispensing and glass cutting equipment.
  • Adapt new products to the existing manufacturing processes.
  • Write and modify programs for dispensing and glass cutting equipment.
  • Support engineering staff in the development of new processes for manufacturing.
  • Help determine training needed for the technicians.
  • Provide input as needed when equipment is purchased or upgraded.
  • Construct test fixtures and complete equipment upgrades as needed.
  • Occasionally work with outside vendors to procure new equipment and/or software to improve the production process.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new products into mass production.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, and promote a safe workplace.

Requirements

  • 2 - 4 year technical degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • 1 to 2 years related experience preferred.
  • Good troubleshooting skills and mechanical inclination.
  • Ability to learn Auto-Cad, Auto-Cad Electrical, Solidworks, and various programming software environments.
  • Ability to learn and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controller programs.
  • Good PC skills required.
  • Management Ability - Evidence of superior people skills.
  • Proven leadership and motivational skills.
  • Good project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate difficult issues with others.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with SolidWorks
  • Experience with Auto-Cad and Auto-Cad Electrical
