About the position

The Process Engineering Technician will work closely with process, project, and tooling engineering teams, as well as production, to coordinate activities related to technical developments, scheduling, and resolving design and test problems. This role involves hands-on technical support on the production floor, focusing on troubleshooting, process optimization, and implementing new product launches.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in hands-on process technical support on the production floor a minimum of 80% of the time.
  • Perform new tool tryouts and analyze tool design and specifications.
  • Assist operators with technical problem solving and recommend creative technical solutions.
  • Conduct tests, report data, adjust equipment, troubleshoot equipment, and diagnose issues.
  • Provide process operations support with hands-on troubleshooting and development.
  • Assist in process optimization and analyze data to improve process tool and quality.
  • Verify manufacturing standards and perform process capability and uptime studies.
  • Assist Maintenance Team on repeat machine problems and implement CI/Cost reduction and safety projects.
  • Research and perform trials on supplies and consumables to improve cost and/or quality.
  • Investigate and coordinate tooling improvements, repairs, and replacements.
  • Monitor Standard Tooling Inventories to ensure appropriate quantities are on hand.
  • Facilitate initial manufacturing review of set-up books and coordinate ongoing updates.
  • Program production software/equipment and support manufacturing with problems.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent education.
  • Five or more years' experience in metal forming, roll forming, or equivalent.
  • Experience with roll forming operations, progressive stamping, welding, or tool & die.
  • Master operator or in process of pursuing master designation.
  • Computer/technical skills including working knowledge of CAD software, Microsoft Office products, and internal manufacturing software.
  • Willingness to work assigned shift with some flexibility for projects and training.
  • US Person as defined by ITAR / EAR.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two-year technical degree.
  • Two or more years' experience in tryout, R&D.
  • Hands-on experience with lean manufacturing principles, PLCs and electrical controls/programming, PFMEA, SPC & GD&T, quality certification systems.
