About the position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking experienced and motivated Process Manufacturing Engineers to join the Manufacturing Engineering organization at the Asheville site. This role is pivotal in developing and driving continuous improvements across various manufacturing areas, particularly focusing on key blade manufacturing processes such as grinding, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM), and hole drilling. The selected candidates will be responsible for owning all technical aspects of their assigned manufacturing area, which includes coordinating with machine tool builders to ensure technical requirements are met and collaborating with vendors on the design of durable and perishable tools. The role requires a hands-on approach, as engineers will need to write part-specific CNC programs when necessary and support the implementation of production processes. Additionally, they will develop detailed work instructions for processes within their designated area and participate in Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Manufacturing Readiness Level (MRL) activities related to their manufacturing area. Lean manufacturing initiatives will also be a significant part of the role, as engineers will support improvements in cell layouts and participate in new capital implementations and new part introductions. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in precision manufacturing, particularly in the aerospace industry, and will be expected to demonstrate advanced problem-solving skills. The role is based onsite, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and direct involvement in the manufacturing processes. Candidates will be part of a team that values diversity of thought and fosters an inclusive culture, where every employee is encouraged to bring their whole selves to work. This position not only offers the chance to work within a state-of-the-art greenfield manufacturing site but also provides opportunities for professional growth and development within a leading aerospace and defense company.
