About the position

Brown and Caldwell is seeking a self-motivated Process Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Charlotte, NC. This role involves working on various projects for municipal, industrial, and federal clients, focusing on innovative and cost-effective designs for water and wastewater facilities. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform engineering work with the Process Mechanical Design Discipline team on water and wastewater projects including pipelines, pumping stations, and treatment plants.
  • Work with teams on engineering designs, preparing reports, construction drawings, specifications, calculations, and equipment selection for various projects.
  • Analyze and design pipeline hydraulics for both open channel and closed conduits.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, and electronic deliverables.
  • Conduct studies, permitting, and alternatives analysis.
  • Check performance or conformity with plans and specifications through field inspections as part of engineering services during construction.
  • Conduct field work, such as site investigations, as necessary for various projects.
  • Communicate effectively and coordinate with project teams including other disciplines (Engineers, Designers).
  • Collect, manipulate, analyze, and document data.
  • Coordinate project work with geotechnical, architectural, process, civil, mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical engineers and consultants.
  • Contribute to company standard detail and specification development and updates.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Experience with Projectwise, BIM 360, and Bluebeam is desired.
  • Experience with Navisworks 2013 (or newer) software is a plus.
  • Experience using engineering calculation software (MathCAD) is a plus.
  • Field/construction experience is a plus.
  • GIS experience is a plus.
  • Good technical skills with the ability to articulate ideas and concepts both visually and verbally.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to use standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and PowerPoint required.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record required.
