About the position

The Process Operator at Dow Chemical Company is responsible for operating assigned equipment and areas of the plant in Beaumont, Texas. This role involves monitoring process conditions, performing operational tasks, and ensuring safe and efficient operations. The operator will work closely with shift team members to resolve unplanned events and may provide training to less experienced operators. The position requires a proactive approach to plant operations and a commitment to safety and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Follows Operating Discipline policies to ensure safe and efficient operation of assigned plant areas.
  • Operates and field checks process equipment, monitoring key performance metrics and making decisions to maintain desired conditions.
  • Performs scheduled operational tasks and addresses unplanned events as they arise.
  • Serves on the site Emergency Response Team and attends required training.
  • Collaborates with shift team members to balance workload and complete tasks by due dates.
  • Conducts effective shift relief to ensure communication and handoff to the next shift.
  • Maintains qualifications in assigned areas and completes training goals in a timely manner.
  • Mentors and trains new and existing operations personnel on process operation and troubleshooting.
  • Performs Immediate Response activities as assigned.
  • Initiates and documents preliminary investigations and participates in Root Cause Investigations.
  • Tracks and utilizes key performance metrics to optimize operations and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Performs Autonomous Maintenance, including minor repairs and preventative maintenance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED AND an Associate degree or higher in Process Technology or a STEM discipline, or 3+ years of relevant Military experience, or 1+ years of chemical or petrochemical experience.
  • Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts and overtime as required.
  • Current, valid US driver's license.
  • Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain one.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States without visa sponsorship.

Nice-to-haves

  • 2+ years of experience in Plant Manufacturing as a Process Operator or Process Technician.
  • Previous experience as a console/board operator.
  • Ability to understand, analyze, and resolve technical problems.
  • Desire to learn and grow technical skills with new automation and process technology.
  • Ability to perform preventive maintenance and diagnose issues with equipment.
  • Proficiency in computers for job tasks.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitative, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent decision-making skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse individuals.
