About the position

Glumac, a Tetra Tech Company, is seeking a motivated and experienced Process Piping Engineer to join our team in the Portland and/or Hillsboro area. This role is pivotal in providing engineering design for Micro Electronics projects, specifically for Advanced Technology clients. The Process Piping Engineer will be responsible for designing various systems, including compressed air, vacuum systems, ultrapure/high purity water systems, and bulk and specialty gas storage and distribution systems. Additionally, the role involves designing solvent, acid, and hazardous wastewater collection and treatment systems. The ideal candidate will possess a thorough knowledge of process-focused design development, including the preparation of process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, process piping, and instrumentation systems. They will also be responsible for developing technical specifications for process equipment and datasheets. A strong background in process or process piping engineering is essential, with a preference for candidates who are Mechanical Engineers with a focus on fluid flow or Chemical Engineers. Candidates should have prior experience in the engineering and design of process systems, particularly in Advanced Technology, Pharma, Lab Research design, or Hospital design. The successful individual will have experience working with external stakeholders, managing bid documents, submittals, and responding to RFIs. Achieving client satisfaction through effective and positive business relations is crucial for success in this role. This position offers a hybrid-remote work environment, requiring candidates to be located in the Portland/Hillsboro area or willing to relocate. Candidates must also be eligible to work in the U.S. to attend project meetings and be on-site a minimum of three days per week or as needed for collaboration. Responsibilities

  • Design systems such as compressed air, vacuum systems, ultrapure/high purity water systems, and bulk and specialty gas storage and distribution systems.
  • Develop designs for solvent, acid, and hazardous wastewater collection and treatment systems.
  • Prepare process flow diagrams (PFDs) and P&IDs.
  • Create technical specifications for process equipment and datasheets.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders and manage bid documents and submittals.
  • Respond to RFIs and ensure client satisfaction through effective business relations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering is required.
  • 5+ years of previous design and construction management experience within the AEC industry.
  • Experience in consulting engineering or A/E firm managing design and construction projects in semiconductor, microelectronics, or R&D engineering environments.
  • Proficiency in software such as Navisworks, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, and MS Office.
  • Knowledge of Building and Mechanical Codes, NFPA, and similar Standards.
