About the position

The Process Safety Engineer at Goodyear's Beaumont Chemical Plant is responsible for leading the Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RMP) initiatives to ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations. This role focuses on continuous improvement of safety management systems, overseeing the Management of Change (MOC) process, conducting hazard analyses, and supporting incident investigations. The engineer will also collaborate with various departments to enhance mechanical integrity and ensure adherence to recognized engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead PSM/RMP programs in accordance with plant, corporate, OSHA and EPA guidelines.
  • Participate in periodic audits of PSM procedures and track completion of action items.
  • Present monthly PSM/RMP status reports to the Plant Leadership Team and quarterly reports to the Chemical Operations Governance Council.
  • Support the review and submittal of the Risk Management plan.
  • Lead the MOC process for the plant, participating in process hazard analyses and pre-startup safety reviews.
  • Ensure work instructions are updated and training is completed before changes are implemented.
  • Support PHA using HAZOP or What-If Checklist methodologies and assist with compiling process safety information.
  • Develop corrective action plans and track completion, reporting progress to the PLT monthly.
  • Provide expertise in continuously improving the PSM/RMP management systems.
  • Assist with third-party engineering studies to ensure compliance with RAGAGEP and LOPA.

Requirements

  • B.S. Degree in an engineering discipline with knowledge of PSM/RMP regulations.
  • 6 years of experience working in a petrochemical or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Program (RPM).
  • Knowledge of PSM/RMP Regulations/Elements.
  • Ability to learn recognized and generally accepted good engineering practices (API, NFPA, OSHA, ASME and ANSI).
  • Experience participating in process hazard analysis (PHA) reviews.

Nice-to-haves

  • B.S. in mechanical, electrical or chemical engineering with P.E. license.
  • PHA-Pro experience.
  • Good computer skills.
