About the position

The Process Safety Engineer at LyondellBasell Bayport Complex is a key leader in process safety management, responsible for overseeing and improving PSM programs. This role involves active participation in PHA and HAZOP processes, interfacing with various stakeholders, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The engineer will also develop and implement effective safety procedures and monitor key performance indicators to track progress in process safety initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Manage, lead, and coordinate PHA and HAZOP processes and activities at the site.
• Write and implement effective procedures supporting process safety, including management of change procedures.
• Monitor and develop key performance indicators to track PSM progress.
• Participate in operational excellence gap analysis and external audits.
• Provide guidance on PSM implications of incidents and assist in proper classification and investigation.
• Conduct audits for management of change, pre-start up safety review processes, and procedure practices.
• Lead or participate in incident investigations and share best practices across the site.

Requirements

• Must possess a four-year applicable BS degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years' experience in a chemical or petrochemical facility.
• Knowledgeable about OSHA PSM and related EPA regulatory requirements.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
