About the position

KBR Sustainable Technology Solutions (STS) is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to support a large-scale EPC project. This role is critical in ensuring the safety and efficiency of engineering operations within the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. The Process Safety Engineer will function under broad direction, acting as a technical specialist whose decisions and recommendations are recognized as authoritative and have a significant impact on extensive engineering and related activities of the company. The engineer will be responsible for negotiating critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers from other organizations and companies, ensuring that KBR's interests are represented and upheld in all discussions. In this position, the Process Safety Engineer will perform advisory and consulting work for the organization, recognized as an authority in broad program areas or in intensely specialized areas. The role contributes directly to value creation, emphasizing the importance of safety and compliance in all engineering processes. The engineer will engage in various safety assessments and reviews, including HAZID, HAZOPs, SIL/LOPA Reviews, and QRAs, while also focusing on plant spacing and layout, consequence modeling using PHAST, and PI&Ds reviews. The position also emphasizes the importance of decarbonization, energy transition, and sustainability, aligning with KBR's commitment to innovative and sustainable engineering solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Function as a technical specialist making authoritative decisions and recommendations.
  • Negotiate critical and controversial issues with top-level engineers and officers of other organizations.
  • Perform advisory and consulting work recognized as an authority in broad program areas or specialized areas.
  • Contribute directly to value creation through engineering and safety assessments.
  • Engage in HAZID, HAZOPs, SIL/LOPA Reviews, and QRAs.
  • Conduct plant spacing and layout assessments and consequence modeling using PHAST.
  • Review PI&Ds to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years related experience, with an average experience of 15+ years.
  • Experience in the oil & gas and/or petrochemical industry.
  • Proficient in HAZID, HAZOPs, SIL/LOPA Reviews, QRAs, and consequence modeling.
  • Knowledge of plant spacing and layout assessments.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with decarbonization and energy transition solutions.
  • Familiarity with sustainability practices in engineering.
