Responsibilities

  • Develop and administer the site Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
  • Lead Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) for the site.
  • Monitor 5-year cyclical PHA process.
  • Lead Safety Integrity Level (SIL) analysis studies and implement Process Safety Lifecycle for Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS).
  • Oversee the Alarm Rationalization process.
  • Assist in resolving complex technical issues using analytical and problem-solving skills such as HazOp and Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessment.
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) Process.
  • Facilitate project process hazard and provide guidance and training for engineering team members completing MOCs.
  • Lead incident investigations for process safety incidents to determine root causes of failures.
  • Participate in the development of the site Mechanical Integrity (MI) program.
  • Perform Semi-Quantitative Risk Assessment (SQRA) and hazard assessments as required.
  • Assist in the development, audit and improvement of the EH&S management system standards and work processes.
  • Provide emergency response support as a member of the site Incident Management Team.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree required.
  • Five or more years' experience in increasingly responsible positions within chemical process technology and safety management in an industrial setting.
  • Detailed knowledge on the application of qualitative and quantitative risk assessment / management techniques.
  • Ability to recognize hazards, drive continual improvement and promote practical alternatives for risk reduction and risk control measures.
