About the position

The PSM Specialist / PSM Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) requirements at the Fresno Land plant. This role involves maintaining safety documentation, developing procedures, leading safety sessions, providing training, and supporting incident investigations. The position also includes collaboration with plant engineering to enhance safety competencies and adherence to quality improvement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain all process safety information and documentation necessary for PHAs or PHA revalidations.
  • Update the Fresno Plant Risk Management Plan (RMP) and coordinate submittal of updates with the EPA and local agencies.
  • Develop and maintain PSM procedures, ensuring their appropriate use at the Fresno Plant.
  • Lead PHA or PHA revalidation sessions and coordinate with third-party contractors for large projects.
  • Provide training on PSM and RMP requirements to new and existing employees.
  • Manage and lead incident investigations and root cause analysis (RCA).
  • Provide technical support during asset Safety/PSM audits and serve as an audit team member/leader.
  • Monitor adequacy and closure of corrective action items related to various safety processes.
  • Support plant engineering in improving safety competency and skillsets.
  • Promote the guiding principles of Responsible Care to enhance safety, health, and environmental performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field; preferably in Engineering, Safety, Process Safety Management, or a similar technical field.
  • A minimum of three years of industrial health, safety, and PSM experience.
  • Strong knowledge of PSM and RMP regulations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to interact with various levels of employees, management, vendors, and customers.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5 years of industrial health and safety and PSM experience preferred.
  • Certifications such as CSP, PSP, PE, etc. are preferred.
  • Completion of the 5-day TapRooT incident investigation process training is a strong plus.
  • Knowledge of the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) is a plus.
