About the position

The Process Safety Manager (PSM Manager) at AMVAC is responsible for supporting and maintaining the Process Safety Management program at the manufacturing plant and surrounding sites near Axis, AL. This role involves ensuring compliance with safety regulations, conducting audits, and reporting key metrics related to Process Safety and Risk Management. The PSM Manager collaborates with plant management and the EHS Department to ensure that all necessary information is developed and made available to meet regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assure compliance with all 14 elements of PSM
  • Perform audits and oversights to maintain current PSM and RMP records
  • Work through Management of Change (MOC) and assist with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA)
  • Participate in Incident Investigations and Root Cause Analysis
  • Assist with resolution of non-compliance issues post-audits
  • Provide guidance to Operations for PSM compliance training
  • Set up and monitor Process Safety metrics
  • Train plant PHA leaders in proper PHA techniques
  • Support Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA) reviews of risk scenarios
  • Ensure timely solutions for findings from PSM audits and assessments
  • Participate in Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSRs)
  • Communicate with Company personnel for compliance improvements
  • Interface with local regulatory agencies regarding PSM
  • Provide expert technical support for regulatory issues
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements

Requirements

  • BS in Chemical Engineering
  • 5+ years of chemical plant experience with a broad technical understanding of plant operations
  • 3+ years of experience implementing and facilitating the plant PSM program
  • Detailed knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, PSM, RSM)
  • Experience leading Process Hazard Analyses (PHA) studies; Trained PHA Facilitator/Leader preferred
  • Strong safety experience
  • Experience conducting data analysis and root cause analysis
  • Risk/consequence modeling experience desirable
  • Experience in management of contractors and technical resources
  • Proven ability to lead teams and influence operations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational and writing skills
  • MS Office proficiency (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain confidential information professionally
  • Strategic thinker with risk identification skills
  • Innovative problem-solving skills
