About the position

The Process Safety Engineer will be a key member of the corporate process safety team at Chevron Phillips Chemical, focusing on risk assessment services and continuous improvement initiatives in process safety. This role is essential for ensuring the safety and efficiency of manufacturing facilities worldwide, with an emphasis on becoming a Certified Process Hazard Analysis Facilitator and leading various safety assessments.

Responsibilities

• Become a Certified PHA facilitator and work with existing facilitators to learn the necessary skills.
• Scribe PHAs for existing PHA facilitators and facilitate PHAs independently.
• Act as the Global OE Standard Owner, responsible for minor changes and comprehensive reviews of standards.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of CPChem process safety work processes.
• Participate in the Process Safety Best Practice Team and industry process safety organizations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of petrochemical manufacturing experience.
• Experience participating in process hazard analyses.
• Strong technical and analytical skills with a solid understanding of petrochemical processes and unit operations.
• Strong people skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Ability to lead teams and resolve conflicts constructively.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to author technical reports and procedures.
• Ability to lead work process development.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in operating a petrochemical unit daily.
• Experience with major production platforms such as Ethylene and Polyethylene (Loop) 1-Hexene.
