About the position

The Process Safety Engineer at Audubon will manage the Design Safety Program for Major Projects and provide consulting services in Process Safety, focusing on Technical Safety, Major Accident Hazards, and Process Safety Management (PSM/SEMS). This role involves identifying deliverables, managing resources, facilitating Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) meetings, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations while actively participating in hazard identification programs.

Responsibilities

  • Identifying and planning deliverables for the Process Safety Program for selected major clients and projects.
  • Managing self and contract resources to meet schedule and budget for Design Safety deliverables for Major Projects.
  • Facilitating and leading Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) meetings, including HAZOP / LOPA studies, and producing high-quality documentation.
  • Providing consulting services to clients and project teams to plan project Process Safety activities and deliverables.
  • Analyzing engineering documents to identify and mitigate safety hazards.
  • Travelling and working at customer sites upon request, including field inspections.
  • Providing PSM / RMP Compliance Auditing and Gap Analysis for Major Projects and Clients.
  • Providing safety engineering input for quantified risk assessments and safety instrumented systems.
  • Participating in hazard identification and observation programs, reporting unsafe acts or conditions.
  • Interacting and communicating effectively with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
  • Ensuring quality and technical accuracy of deliverables.
  • Overseeing adherence to safe design practices and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Supporting the project Design Hazard Management Plan and development of the Major Accident Hazard Register.
  • Developing design performance standards for Safety / Environmental Critical Elements and verification plans.
  • Creating and updating bow tie diagrams for major accident hazards.
  • Managing delivery of third-party contractors in hazard analyses and risk assessments for offshore facilities.
  • Verifying that performance standards are met through all stages.
  • Providing input to the development of design and operations cases for safety.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • Bachelor's Degree from ABET Accredited Institution preferred.
  • Working knowledge of industry codes (API, etc.), Process Safety Regulations, and PHA recording software required.
  • Working knowledge of dispersion models and CFD models preferred.
  • HAZOP / LOPA facilitator training required.
  • Working knowledge of industry standard fire protection requirements for offshore installations preferred.
  • 5-10 years technical safety experience preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, including public speaking to groups of up to 30 professionals.
  • Ability to work with teams to make decisions or take actions to solve problems or reach goals.
  • Ability to provide instruction and clarification to team members.
  • Industry certification (engineering, safety, or environmental) preferred.
