About the position

The Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer at Hexion is responsible for leading and guiding all site safety activities, focusing on the identification and execution of projects aimed at reducing risks in process areas. This role is crucial for ensuring compliance with health, safety, and security regulations while fostering a culture of safety and engagement among associates. The PSM Engineer collaborates with site leadership to implement health and safety programs, provide training, and drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

Responsibilities

  • Assess facility operations for regulatory applicability and compliance with health, safety, and security requirements.
  • Provide ongoing observations and coaching to associates to drive safety improvements.
  • Partner with the site to deliver safety and operations training to associates and identify KPIs for measurement of success.
  • Collaborate with the Global Engineering team to identify, design, and execute projects to reduce safety hazards.
  • Engage with associates at all levels to support health and safety programs.
  • Assist in the development and lead implementation of health and safety programs.
  • Participate actively on EHS project teams.
  • Ensure delivery of safety training programs to instruct employees in site EHS policies and procedures.
  • Promote and support an EHS culture by driving the implementation of core EHS programs and initiatives.
  • Lead incident investigations and drive corrective action through cause mapping and 5-why analysis.

Requirements

  • 5+ years' experience as a health and safety professional in a Chemical Manufacturing or Oil & Gas environment.
  • Experience in Process Safety Management required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of health and safety regulations.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and be self-directed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to engage and build trust with all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to lead and influence project teams and program execution.
  • Passion for recognizing and leading positive change.
  • Aptitude to lead and make challenging decisions in any situation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Professional engineer (PE) license and/or professional certifications (CSP/ASP) is a plus.
