About the position

The Process Safety Management (PSM) Engineer at INVISTA's Victoria, Texas facility is a pivotal role focused on promoting a culture of safety and innovation within the organization. This position involves leading the Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) program, collaborating with various sites to enhance safety practices, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The engineer will also be responsible for developing tools and training to foster a strong process safety culture among the workforce.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Victoria Site Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) program, both Covered Process and Non-Covered Process.
  • Facilitate site PHAs and collaborate with other INVISTA sites to drive continuous improvement in PHA methodologies.
  • Secure required resources to execute PHAs by collaborating with area leadership.
  • Schedule and manage all process covered PHAs to meet INVISTA and OSHA timing requirements.
  • Lead the Risk Management Plan (RMP) program.
  • Oversee the development of new tools and software to enhance PSM systems.
  • Participate in PSM audits to contribute to compliance goals.
  • Assist in developing and delivering PSM training.
  • Connect workforce to Process Safety culture expectations.

Requirements

  • Experience in the Process Safety Management field either facilitating or participating as an active team member on Process Hazard Analysis (PHA).
  • Prior experience in engineering in a chemical manufacturing facility or refinery.
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in an Engineering discipline.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience and formal training in Hazard analysis systems such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP), PHA, or Layer of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
  • Knowledge of relevant process safety regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.119 and 40 CFR 68.
  • Experience with Risk Management Plan program.
  • Proficient in incident investigations and Human & Organizational Performance (HOP).
  • Leadership experience within a chemical plant in operations, technical, or mechanical integrity role.
  • Certified PHA Facilitator.
  • Proficient in the use of PHA software such as LEADER®.
