About the position

The Process Technician/Engineer II position at Bouckaert Industrial Textiles Inc. is a full-time role that offers an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic manufacturing environment. This position is crucial for overseeing the work of Process Engineer I and assisting the Vice President of Manufacturing in the development, configuration, and optimization of industrial processes from inception to start-up. The successful candidate will ensure consistency and high quality in the manufacturing of all products, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the production process. In this role, the Process Engineer II will be responsible for developing a thorough understanding of all manufacturing processes and products. This includes assisting in specifying equipment and process requirements for the development of new products or improvements to existing products. The engineer will coordinate the resolution of technical and process problems, ensuring that any technical modifications are effectively implemented. Additionally, the role involves supporting manufacturing productivity and quality improvements on the production floor, conducting research, and testing trials and sample runs while documenting results meticulously. The Process Engineer II will also be tasked with developing project plans and managing projects from inception to completion. This includes directing the work of Process Engineer I and collaborating with the Safety team to ensure proper safety setups and safeguards for all new equipment. Regular reporting to management on quality issues, trends, and losses is expected, along with staying updated on changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies that affect production. The engineer will assist with quality review boards for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement, while also supporting Lean Manufacturing initiatives and other company objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Process Engineer I and assist VP, Manufacturing in process development and optimization.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of all manufacturing processes and products.
  • Assist in specifying equipment and process requirements for new product development or improvements.
  • Coordinate resolution of technical and process problems and implement technical modifications.
  • Support manufacturing productivity and quality improvements on the production floor.
  • Research, conduct, and test trials and sample runs, documenting results.
  • Develop project plans and manage projects from inception to completion.
  • Direct the work of Process Engineer I.
  • Collaborate with Safety to ensure proper safety setups for new equipment.
  • Report to management on quality issues, trends, and losses.
  • Stay updated on changes in policies, procedures, regulations, and technologies affecting production.
  • Assist with quality review board for problem identification and continuous improvement.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing, 5S, and safe work practices.

Requirements

  • BS Degree in Engineering preferred.
  • 5-8 years of experience with fiber preparation, carding, and needle-punch manufacturing.
  • Experience implementing process and quality improvements in a manufacturing environment.
  • Impeccable math and statistical analysis skills.
  • Previous project management experience with knowledge of project management software.
  • Analytical thinker and problem-solver with strong interpersonal skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in textile manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Project management certification.
