About the position

The Process Technician for Plastics Injection Molding is responsible for setting up and maintaining injection molding machines and processes to ensure efficient production of high-quality parts. This role involves troubleshooting, optimizing processes, and adhering to safety and quality standards while working closely with the production team.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and troubleshoot all processes related to injection molding and perform adjustments as needed to ensure jobs are running to standard rates.
  • Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot complex injection molding processes using various engineered and commodity type resins on multiple molding machines.
  • Ensure presses are running correct cycle times and match documented specifications.
  • Accurately record process specifications in mold books.
  • Perform thorough part inspections and make decisions regarding part quality requirements.
  • Investigate Non-Conformances and determine corrective actions for successful molding of high-quality parts.
  • Act as the Injection Molding Subject Matter Expert, knowledgeable in materials, injection mold tools, machines, and support equipment.
  • Support daily production by identifying solutions for chronic issues that cannot be resolved by production associates.
  • Meet with shift supervisor and other process technicians to discuss manufacturing floor issues.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards within the department.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area with an emphasis on quality, safety, efficiency, and utilization.
  • Continually seek to improve work processes and individual performance.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with IATF 16949 standards.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • 3-5 years of experience in plastic injection molding.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Computer literate.
  • Familiar with problem-solving techniques.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of equipment, tooling, and processes used in injection molding manufacturing.
  • Self-directed.
  • Strong troubleshooting and continuous improvement skills.
