About the position

Olin Chlor Alkali Products and Vinyls is seeking full-time Process Technicians for its Oyster Creek, TX plant. The ideal candidates will be technically proficient, action-oriented, and capable of making quick decisions while possessing excellent troubleshooting skills. Olin Corporation is a leading vertically-integrated global manufacturer and distributor of chemical products, including chlorine, caustic soda, vinyls, epoxies, and more. The Process Technician role is critical in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the chemical production plant, which operates under strict regulatory standards. As a Process Technician, you will work in a team environment, following established operating disciplines, procedures, and practices. Your primary responsibilities will include monitoring process conditions, equipment, and control systems, as well as assisting in the start-up, training, and troubleshooting of related equipment and chemical processes. You will perform various operational tasks such as field checks, equipment preparation, permitting, testing, commissioning, process sample management, and analysis. Additionally, you will be involved in the cleaning and assembly of chlorine cells, operating solvent wash stations, and conducting quality inspections. The role also requires you to prepare equipment for maintenance and perform minor maintenance activities as assigned. You will utilize various control systems to monitor and adjust equipment operations for tanks, boilers, air systems, and other critical components. Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues within your assigned area will be essential, as will ensuring compliance with safety, DOT, and quality inspections. You will be expected to maintain a high level of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship, reporting near misses and assisting with incident investigations. Overall, this position is vital for maintaining operational efficiency and safety in a complex chemical production environment.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor process conditions, equipment, and control systems.
  • Assist in the start-up, training, and troubleshooting of related equipment and chemical processes.
  • Perform field checks, equipment preparation, permitting, testing, and commissioning.
  • Manage process samples and conduct analysis.
  • Clean and assemble chlorine cells, operate solvent wash stations, and perform weld repairs.
  • Conduct quality inspections and manage inventory.
  • Load and unload products to and from various transportation modes.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance and perform minor maintenance activities as assigned.
  • Utilize control systems to monitor and adjust equipment operations for tanks, boilers, and other systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues within assigned areas of the plant.
  • Complete thorough inspections to ensure regulatory compliance, including safety and quality inspections.
  • Cooperate with maintenance and development projects to maximize operational efficiency.
  • Report near misses and assist with root cause incident investigations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required; Associate's Degree in Process Technology, Industrial Engineering, Instrumentation, Electrical or Computer Technology preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time work experience or military experience in a relevant field.
  • Experience in chemical plant, oil and gas, logistics, or manufacturing preferred.
  • Basic computer skills, math, and problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Mechanical, numerical, and verbal aptitude is required.
  • Ability to be part of a rescue team and respond to Hazwoper/emergency response teams.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts, overtime, holidays, and weekends as required.
  • Valid US Driver's license is required.
