About the position

As a Process Technician at Sonoco, you will play a crucial role in spearheading process improvements and ensuring the quality of production processes. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, your responsibilities will include monitoring cycle times, adjusting processes as needed, and collaborating with various teams to resolve quality and workflow issues. This position emphasizes safety, quality, and a positive work environment while supporting the company's commitment to sustainability and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor cycle times and adjust as needed.
  • Maintain accuracy of processes during production.
  • Modify processes as required for product orders.
  • Correct errors and work with operators to improve process effectiveness.
  • Conduct mechanical tasks such as process monitoring, sampling, and testing.
  • Prepare and isolate equipment for maintenance.
  • Monitor operations process, work, and material flow to ensure quality and customer specifications are met.
  • Assist maintenance with preventative maintenance projects.
  • Back up on running presses during breaks and support the Shift Supervisor.
  • Conduct test and trial runs as needed.
  • Perform mold changes and repairs to optimize the molding process.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
  • Perform all duties in a manner that demonstrates the highest level of safety and quality.
  • Provide repair and replacement of electrical and/or pneumatic instrumentation and control systems.
  • Install new equipment.
  • Support Sonoco's culture of a positive and inclusive work environment.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of equipment and the molding/expansion process preferred.
  • Familiarity with hydraulics, pneumatics, and steam systems.
  • Good clerical, technical, and mechanical skills required.
  • Ability to troubleshoot machines.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Self-motivated individual who can multi-task in a fast-paced production setting.
