About the position

As a Process Technology Engineer focused on Quality Systems at AM/NS Calvert, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the implementation and availability of advanced quality product management tools. This includes the Global Product Quality System (GPQS) and the Coil Grading Surface Inspection System (CGSIS). You will collaborate with various stakeholders to enhance product quality management processes and ensure that our products meet the highest standards. Your work will be pivotal in supporting the expansion of our cutting-edge steelmaking facility in Calvert, Alabama, which is designed to leverage the latest technology and innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers and the market. In this position, you will be responsible for understanding and managing process parameters and signals that affect product quality from the slab casting process through to the galvanizing lines. You will work closely with mill quality and technology teams to implement and improve product quality parameters, ensuring customer acceptance. Additionally, you will engage with Global R&D and participate in technical exchanges with other ArcelorMittal facilities to share knowledge and best practices. Your analytical skills will be essential as you create formulas to enhance quality management tool results and develop training materials for end users. Responsibilities

  • Ensure implementation and availability of advanced quality product management tools such as GPQS and CGSIS in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Know process parameters and signals that affect the product from the slab casting process to galvanizing lines to create logic for product acceptance in each process step.
  • Work closely with mill quality and technology teams to implement and/or improve product quality parameters for customer acceptance.
  • Collaborate with Global R&D and engage in technical exchanges with other ArcelorMittal facilities.
  • Create formulas to improve quality management tool results.
  • Develop tool implementation and learning materials for roll out to end users.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced and changing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering - Industrial, Metallurgy, Material or Information Systems focus preferred, or a combination of post-secondary education and directly related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with product quality management tools and measurement devices.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis utilizing applications such as Minitab and reporting applications like PowerBI.
  • Solid understanding of automation relational databases.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Excel, Teams, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with databases such as SQL or similar platforms.
  • General understanding of software/Windows OS.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid understanding of in-line automated measurement tools and related signals.
  • Knowledge of steel process, properties and applications, steel defects, and defect origin.
  • Advanced skills in data analysis, Statistics (design of experiments, data analysis and model formulation).
  • Familiarity with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) preferred.
