Processing Operator

About the position

The Processing Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment in the packing plant, ensuring adherence to food safety and quality standards. This role requires limited supervision and involves training others, operating machinery, and maintaining a clean work environment. The operator plays a crucial role in the egg processing procedures and must communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.

Responsibilities

• Follow Kreher's pre-established egg processing procedures and guidelines with limited supervision.
• Act professionally and demonstrate good leadership skills, including the ability to train others.
• Operate end-of-lane Ovotrack systems for label setup and production reports.
• Use required personal safety equipment as specified on the Safety Data Sheets.
• Communicate with Supervisors regarding any conveyor or equipment problems.
• Act as a team player, supporting and encouraging co-workers while treating them with respect.
• Comply with Kreher Policies, Work Rules, and Code of Conduct, as well as federal and state laws.
• Maintain a positive attitude, show good initiative, and have a great attendance record.
• Participate in all required training during the first-day orientation process and annually thereafter.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area to avoid accidents.
• Perform packaging changeovers on packers for different sizes and styles.
• Identify and correct error codes on packers promptly.
• Ensure packing material matches egg size, carton dating, and lane assignment.
• Communicate with packer operators to correct identified issues.
• Scan packaging out of Ovotrack and perform egg packing and sanitation tasks effectively.
• Palletize if assigned and able to meet physical demands for palletizing.
• Perform pre-operation safety checks on all machinery and communicate with the Set-up person on orders to be run.
• Set up the backline for the daily run and ensure orders are counted out accurately.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of work experience in a food processing plant is preferred.
• Ability to focus and stay alert with very good observation skills.
• Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can work effectively in a team-based environment.
• Ability to maintain the proper pace while handling fragile products with little to no breakage.
